Greetings all!
My name is Dennis McNeely – thanks for stopping by. I’ve spent lots of time in both residential and commercial real estate over the past 40 years as both a real estate investor and a broker. I’d like to share a bit about how real estate can provide monthly cash flow, and how it can grow your net worth over time. It has been a game-changer for me since I first began investing, and it can do the same for you.
There are also tax benefits related to the ownership of real estate, and further benefits associated with the ownership of your own business. You need to know that I’m a just a real estate broker, and not an accountant or attorney. Your situation and local laws will vary, so you should seek out viable advice from folks well versed in real estate law and accounting in your area. Note that I said that your situation and local laws will vary, not that they might vary. Even two identical properties that are across the street from one another may be located in different school districts, be subject to different municipal regulations, etc.
Owning real estate as an investment isn’t rocket science though. If you’re not comfortable getting started or growing your real estate portfolio, find a partner whose abilities and resources compliment your own. The important thing is to keep putting one foot in front of the other, even when problems arise.
Please note that you’ll find advertisements on this site as you move around. Some advertisers may have simply paid to have their ads shown to those visiting the site, and others offer to pay an affiliate commission when site visitors take action after seeing those ads. Payments from those advertisers help keep the lights on here at Occasional Investor. Isn’t capitalism wonderful?
Why I Launched This Website
As I just mentioned above, real estate investing totally changed my life. I’ve been able to set my own hours and work from where ever I am at the time. I’m responsible for my own life – the good, the bad, and the ugly – and that’s infinitely preferable to having to deal with the bad and the ugly in order to make someone else’s life good.
Your guiding principal is to keep your shoulder to the wheel, especially when you’re acquiring your first few properties. This will be an ongoing effort; you’re committing to this for the long haul. If you don’t persist, you may as well plant yourself in front of a television or a gaming console and let life take you where it will.
The bottom line is that I decided to launch this website to share information about real estate investing to help you change your life too.
How I Can Help You
I’ve been around the block more than once, and can give you an idea of some of the obstacles and opportunities you’ll encounter, as well as suggesting organizations and tools you can use to reduce your risk and improve your bottom line more quickly.
My goal is to provide helpful information and tips to help you get started as a real estate investor, and to learn to promote yourself to others to further your career as an investor.
Congratulations on taking the time to read this – but if this is what you’d like to pursue, keep in mind that you’re making a commitment to persist. That’s your mantra; you owe it to your future self.
